OKTOBERFEST RACE WEEKEND TO CELEBRATE ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY IN 2009
By: Kevin RamsellWEST SALEM, WI (Thursday, August 13, 2009) - It has become the most popular short track asphalt racing event in the Midwest, and it has caught the attention of the racing world. This year the famous Oktoberfest Race Weekend will celebrate its 40th running of the great four-day race weekend.
The 40th annual event will take place on October 8-11 at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI.
The American Speed Association Midwest Tour, the ASA Late Model North Series, the Big-8 Late Models, Mid-American Stock Car Series and USST Super Trucks will each decide their 2009 champions at Fest, along with many other divisions on hand featuring the best weekly competitors in Area Sportsmen, La Crosse Late Models, La Crosse Sportsmen, Super Sportsmen, Modifieds, R.A.Y.S. (An Open Class with few restrictions), Thunderstox, Enduro, Vintage, Hornets, and Bandits.
"We are working on the final versions of our annual Oktoberfest newspaper and the competitors guide, and they should be mailed out and posted on the Oktoberfest website in early September," Chuck Deery, La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway promoter said. "We are looking forward to an exciting four days of racing with over 500 cars in 20 different divisions competing. If you run at any asphalt or dirt track in the Midwest, more than likely we will have a division for you to compete in and be a part of the 40th annual fun event."
The Oktoberfest Race Weekend provides more than just racing as the La Crosse Fairgrounds turns into a community where new friends are made and old friends are reunited. The camping village is one of the more unique aspects of the weekend with fans coming in days before the first green flag is waved to get their favorite spot.
Along with the racing, there is a racing memorabilia show, a pumpkin coloring contest for kids, vendors, the famous Sunday morning pancake breakfast, and of course the popular after-race parties with live music and much more.
Make your plans now to be a part of the 40th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend. For more information, please visit the official Oktoberfest site at www.oktoberfestraceweekend.com or contact the Speedway office at 608-786-1525. La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway has racing every Saturday night.
